Switzerland and Korea have collaborated in science & technology since 1995 and held a number of common roundtables, research competitions and bilateral symposiums. In 2008, a bilateral Agreement on cooperation in Science & Technology was signed and since then, Korea is one of the 7 priority partner countries of Switzerland in S&T.
In Switzerland, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) is in charge of the bilateral S&T program. ETH Zürich as the Leading House and the University of Geneva as the Associate Leading House are responsible for the execution of the programme and bilateral S&T promotion activities. The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) is managing the bilateral project funding in the form of joint research projects.
On the Korean side, the Ministry of Science, IT and Future Planning (MSIP) is in charge of the bilateral S&T Program. The National Research Foundation (NRF) implements and manages the bilateral project funding and other bilateral S&T activities, such as symposium and exchanges.
