The 3rd Swiss-Korean Life Science Symposium will be held at Grand Hyatt Seoul on July 14th, 2016 and co-organised by the Embassy of Switzerland’s Science & Technology Office and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI).
This year’s Symposium’s will feature a speech by the President of the Swiss Confederation, Johann N. Schneider-Ammann and the theme will be “Digital Health Technology Innovation”. The topics of the sessions will be, “Pharma & Biotech meets ICT,” “E-Health and Hospitals,” “Digital Health for Diagnostics & Disease Management,” and finally, a start-up pitching contest for Korean digital health companies. Sponsors are the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW).
The focus on the 2016 symposium is to introduce each country’s initiatives from government, hospitals and private sector in digital health care and to discuss accelerating new Swiss and Korean digital health care technologies from research to market by combining Korea’s experience in ICT and Switzerland’s medical strengths.
Under the framework of the Swiss-Korean Life Science Initiative, the first symposium was held in May 2014 co-organized by the Embassy of Switzerland’s Science & Technology Office and the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB). 2014 Symposium focused on the following four topics: “Life Science R&D Policies,” “Global Health,” “Biotechnology” and “Personalized Health in Stem Cells and Genetics.”
The 2nd Swiss-Korean Life Science Symposium was held for two-days in October 2015 and was co-organized by Science & Technology Office Seoul and KHIDI. The topics in 2015 included, “Life Science R&D Ecosystem,” “Biomedical Technologies in Korea,” “Global Health – Neglected Disease & Drug Development,” and a start-up pitching contest involving Swiss and Korean medtech start-ups.
